Mellomaan wil spesifiek dankie sê aan Mopanie-koshuis, al die manne wat saam ons gesit het tot in die vroeë oggendure, ons vriende, ons vriendinne en die Forever Resort by Loskopdam wat hierdie liedjies moontlik gemaak het. Mellomaan wil ook dankie sê vir ons families, vriende en veral ons fans wat vier jaar geduldig moes wag het vir hierdie geheime EP. Soos Anton sal sê, met sy hande in die lug – "whatatimetobealive".
Dan, ’n besonderse woord van dank aan Rotsduif – die onbekende arend, die baken van lig op die horison, die enigste ware vlieënde wese wat in hierdie deurmekaar, onderstebo, post-modernistiese era nog reguit kan vlieg.
Rotduif was ’n roker duif.

VIBRANCY COLLECTIVE | ONE

I had the privilege of joining the first Vibrancy Creative Retreat at in Harmonie, La Motte, Franschhoek, in November 2018. A group of thirty artists, musicians and writers from across South Africa came together, under the guidance of Rita Springer, to write a 7-track worship album. The heart of the album was to write songs that celebrate hope and restoration in the context of our beautiful, but often broken, country.
Carlyn Ganz and I sat together around a piano, a notebook and a Bible, to write a song – "Tot Stilstand" – about rest and the mystery of peace within chaos. The central metaphor or narrative of the song is the story of Moses' unexpected encounter with God in the presence of the burning bush in Exodus 3. The song aims to awaken our hearts for the presence of the Divine – who might require us to take a break from our endless endeavours, breathe deeply, and to rest in the all-embracing Love of the present moment.
